I took today’s picture on the woofer walk this morning. There was a definite nip in the air, but it was dry and still, so pleasant. The fog was still sitting in the valley, obscuring the normal landscape, but it will lift. When you’re having a foggy day, can’t see the horizon in your life,Continue reading “November 26th – Fog”

November 15th – Winter walk
We ventured out for a woofer walk this afternoon, and were lucky to avoid the heavy storms that have been hitting the UK over this weekend. The ground was a tad soggy, but the dogs didn’t seem to mind, and it was good to be out in the fresh air. It has been mentioned manyContinue reading “November 15th – Winter walk”
November 12th – Carpet
Today’s picture is of our pretty garden carpet of leaves under our Acer. I love this time of year, especially when the sun shines and brings out the best of the autumn colours. Be happy…. x
November 9th – “Dad – Callie’s sitting on me again”
Hopefully a little picture to make you smile this evening. Our youngest flatcoat has a very annoying habit of sitting on others. Earlier in the evening it was my turn, but obviously I wasn’t quite squidgy enough so it was Alfie’s turn. I just love our dogs, they are such characters, and Alfie’s expression isContinue reading “November 9th – “Dad – Callie’s sitting on me again””
November 2nd – Rhododendron
We came across a rhododendron in flower in November whilst walking the woofers! It was in Cornwall but they are usually in bloom in March. There are over 1,000 species of this plant and it enjoys cool climates with well-drained, slightly acidic soil. They are widely cultivated for their beautiful fragrant flowers and ornamental leaves. These leaves are arranged in aContinue reading “November 2nd – Rhododendron”
November 1st – Jellyfish?
Today’s picture is of a Portuguese man o’war. The Portuguese man o’ war, (Physalia physalis) is often called a jellyfish, but is actually a species of siphonophore, a group of animals that are closely related to jellyfish, an animal made up of a colony of organisms working together. While the man o’ war’s sting isContinue reading “November 1st – Jellyfish?”
October 31st Happy Halloween 🎃
Mrs L has been at it again with her felting and these two models have joined us in our motorhome trip to Cornwall for a few days. The dogs are very interested in them, as they think they’re balls…. Anyway, a very different Halloween this year for many but stay safe and healthy
October 30th – Another first
Don’t ask why, because I really don’t know the answer, but I thought I would like to try a bit of painting….. I really like the couple of Steven Brown prints we have recently acquired, and so it made sense to have an initial go with a colouring book. My friends at Amazon brought meContinue reading “October 30th – Another first”
October 29th – Pumpkin carving
I got home this evening to find these on the doorstep. Looks like the lodgers have been busy… The carving of pumpkins originates from the Samhain festival, when Gaels would carve turnips to ward off spirits and stop fairies from settling in houses. A theory that explains the Americanised name Jack O’Lantern came from the folkloric story of Stingy Jack, who fooled theContinue reading “October 29th – Pumpkin carving”
October 25th – Harvest time….
For nearly 6 months my demijohn containing cherry gin has sat in the airing cupboard, but today was it’s last day. I bottled this morning and had a little glass this evening. It is very pleasant, and all I need to do is keep the dogs noses out of it 🤣
