She’s been at it again, the clever Mrs L, with her felting hobby, making this lovely wreath from un-spun wool. But where did the Christmas wreath tradition start, and where does the Robin fit in to the Christmas tradition? The keeping of an Advent wreath is a common practice in homes or churches. The concept ofContinue reading “December 7th – Robin wreath”
Mrs L has been at it again with her felting and these two models have joined us in our motorhome trip to Cornwall for a few days. The dogs are very interested in them, as they think they’re balls…. Anyway, a very different Halloween this year for many but stay safe and healthy
Don’t ask why, because I really don’t know the answer, but I thought I would like to try a bit of painting….. I really like the couple of Steven Brown prints we have recently acquired, and so it made sense to have an initial go with a colouring book. My friends at Amazon brought meContinue reading “October 30th – Another first”
I got home this evening to find these on the doorstep. Looks like the lodgers have been busy… The carving of pumpkins originates from the Samhain festival, when Gaels would carve turnips to ward off spirits and stop fairies from settling in houses. A theory that explains the Americanised name Jack O’Lantern came from the folkloric story of Stingy Jack, who fooled theContinue reading “October 29th – Pumpkin carving”
Well, the back of the old B&B sign is now covered with another mosaic, created by Mrs L (assisted by Andy).
My lovely, talented wife, aided by her fab son made me a mosaic sign for the cabin, which has undergone a transformation from a workshop into a bar!! Photos will follow when it’s complete (currently 95% there), but how they managed to create this without me knowing is beyond me. Hopefully we can have greatContinue reading “September 28th – Presents…..”
One side of our old B&B sign has had a make over thanks to Denise’s mosaic project. The second side has been started and is a slightly different design so watch this space for updates.
Alfie turned 2 today, and he was rather taken with his portrait given to his Mum for her birthday. As mentioned in previous posts, he is a real character and constantly makes us laugh with his antics, and constant jabbering, although his best days start with a walk, followed by food, washed down with coffee,Continue reading “August 27th – Happy Birthday Alfie”
We decided to change a picture in the lounge with a nice Steven Brown canvas of Effilumps It’s probably not everyone’s taste but we like it. That’s the thing with art, it is subjective. No rights or wrongs. Many aspects of our lives are subjective, and I think it’s interesting to hear other people’s opinionContinue reading “August 19th – Artwork”
The wife went out this morning and came back this afternoon with an elephant!…. OK – she went on a felting course, something she has wanted to do for a while, and her first creation was very impressive. I wonder if she could use that technique on my head so I can get some hairContinue reading “July 19th – Not another animal!!”
