Yes, Denise slaved over a giant hot cross bun (18″ diameter). We had a slice and it was delicious, but when we returned to the kitchen after working in the garden for a cuppa, and another slice only to discover the tea towel that was covering it whilst it cooled, on the floor along with a few minute crumbs.
Nothing is sacred…. Callie ate a block of butter earlier and was caught red pawed.
Last week we were melting with temperatures in the mid to high 20’s. This evening we lit the fire…. What is the weather doing??
We did get some rain for the garden finally, and lots of indoor chores done which have been neglected whilst the weather was so brilliant, so not all bad.
Well, as the farmers say, we need the rain. We had a really heavy storm earlier, and I was going to take a photo of that but a cooking incident hampered my efforts.
I played in the kitchen again, and conjured up some chicken in Hoisin sauce, with garlic rice and black beans, topped with sliced chilli and spring onion. It wasn’t bad, even though I say it myself, but rookie error….. Despite washing my hands well, I rubbed my eyes (hayfever) and ended up with chilli eye…..
I just about recovered enough to take a couple of snaps of the moody sky this evening. I don’t think we’ll need to water the plants tomorrow…..
Take good care and washing hands isn’t just necessary to prevent covid-19…..
I played Andy at golf earlier at Stockwood Vale Golf Club.
I really enjoy playing at my local club, but as with most things in life, a bit of variety is good to keep you fresh now and again.
The views on most courses are great, and Stockwood didn’t disappoint with some challenging ups and downs 😉.
The weather was a lot cooler than recently and there were even a few spots of rain, but that was ok, and didn’t spoil a great few hours out in the fresh air

Another fabulous day in the UK, with lovely sunshine, and a great game of golf with great friends.
I got home from golf and shared a BBQ with our drive guests Clive and Sarah. Afterwards, we headed up to the back of our garden to watch the sun go down on a fab day, with a nice G&T.
We count our blessings, but also appreciate that there are people out there that aren’t as fortunate as ourselves, and our thoughts are with them.
So Andy (step son) and Stella came over for a socially distanced lunch today, but the wife ‘suggested’ a task afterwards, which was sorting out her mosaic tiles into different colours.
It was weirdly therapeutic, and thanks to some up cycled takeaway containers, the task was soon complete. It will really help Denise crack on with some of her projects, and Andy and Stella completed a nice picture of a boat.
More work in the garden today, ensuring the cabins roof is watertight, not that there is any rain forecast in the near future. Lock-down has been bearable for us due to having a fab garden and the weather being so good.
We have been in our home for 14 years now, having started with virtually nothing, but through extremely hard work and some luck we are now able to enjoy our retirement, although I can’t imagine how I managed to fit work in.
