To retire, or not to retire – That was the question. Many folk I spoke to asked “Won’t you be bored? What will you do with your time?”
Well, like most things ‘if you fail to plan you plan to fail’. I have many hobbies and interests, I sometimes wonder how I managed to fit work in. Thanks to my good friend and neighbour (Dave), I also added golf to the list. Will I ever be any good? Doubt it, but I really enjoy being out in the fresh air with nice guys, sharing a good laugh, and sometimes hitting a ball in the right direction. Do you have a plan for retiring?
We managed to get out for a round which was a glorious winters day.
Back to work day for some (thankfully not me). Going back to work after a break can be stressful, not helped by the time of year when we generally have dark skies, which led me to today’s photo.
What do you see?
Do you see dark skies, bad weather, desolate landscapes
Do you see open space, a possible adventure or lovely walk (despite the weather)
Same picture but different people will view it in very different ways. If you know anyone that see’s the dark skies, how about reaching out to them, checking they’re ok, share a joke or a happy memory you can both relate to, especially at this time of the year.
Well, here we go…… A new year / decade and the first picture of this 366 day challenge….. Yes, 2020 is a leap year. This first photo is a bit tongue in cheek, and probably represents a fair few houses up and down the country after a heavy New Years Eve party. I hope your not feeling to bad…… Credit for this image must be shared with our dear neighbours (Dave & Teresa) who invited us to their gathering last night, and kindly shared their recycle bin for this shot.
But whilst a lot of people were letting their hair down, let’s spare a thought for those who worked through to keep us all safe (NHS staff; Police and Fire crews and others)
Let’s also share a thought for those less fortunate, living on the streets with very few possessions, money, friends, family etc. I hope in this new decade that we start to see wealth more evenly distributed.
Thanks for reading and I hope 2020 is an amazing year for you and your loved ones. I wonder what tomorrows image will be???
I arrived on planet earth in 1962, and was raised in the suburbs ofBath, but I still think I’m 28!!
I worked for Hewlett Packard for 33 years in various different roles, but one theme ran through those roles – Problem Solving – It’s in my DNA.
Whilst on a conference call I heard that a round of redundancies were coming up and emailed my boss before the sentence was finished. My final day was Oct 31st, 2017, and since then I have enjoyed life, walking our dogs, travelling, playing golf, and taking the odd photo here and there
Why do this?
I want a meaningful challenge, and to reconnect with my passion for photography.I want the images to spark a debate, drive change for the better and make us all reflect on our lives…..
One ground rule can be summed up with one word – RESPECT. We all have different life experiences, and so I don’t expect everyone to agree with my thoughts and views. I welcome feedback, even if your comments disagree with a statement I might make, as long as it is polite and well articulated
My first photo will be posted on January 1st, 2020 – I can’t wait to get started on this journey
